Overview
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Taper to join our construction team. The ideal candidate will have experience in various aspects of construction finishing, including drywall taping, mudding, and finishing surfaces to ensure a smooth, professional appearance. This position offers an opportunity to work on diverse projects, utilizing a wide range of skills such as blueprint reading, carpentry, and the operation of power tools. The Taper will play a crucial role in delivering high-quality results that meet project specifications and client expectations.
Duties
- Apply joint compound and tape to drywall seams using hand tools and power tools
- Finish surfaces by sanding, smoothing, and preparing for painting or other finishes
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and construction drawings to ensure accurate application of materials
- Use hand tools such as trowels, knives, and sanders to achieve desired surface quality
- Operate heavy equipment and power tools safely to facilitate efficient workflow
- Assist with related tasks including caulking, installation of cabinetry, flooring, tile laying, or electrical components as needed
- Collaborate with team members to meet project deadlines while maintaining safety standards
- Maintain a clean work environment and properly store tools and materials after use
Qualifications
- Proven experience in drywall taping, mudding, and finishing in construction or restoration projects
- Knowledge of blueprint reading, schematics, and construction estimating is preferred
- Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and heavy equipment operation relevant to finishing work

- Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications accurately
- Strong attention to detail with a focus on quality craftsmanship
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
- Physical capability to perform manual tasks including lifting up to 50 pounds and standing for extended periods
- Relevant certifications or training in construction painting, concrete finishing, tile laying, or related trades are a plus

Pay: $19.50-$22.00 per hour
