Total Site Services Inc. & Casey's Water Well and Geothermal are looking for a Heavy Equipment Mechanic with hydraulic experience and preferably a 310T and/or 310S license or Apprenticeship.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Performs work as directed by lead mechanic
- Complete repairs required efficiently and in a timely fashion
- Comfortable dealing with fast paced work environment with changing priorities
- Ability to work in adverse weather conditions when needed (i.e. mechanical repairs needed on site at a job site, road side, etc.)
- Experience detecting and diagnosing operating problems in frames and steering mechanisms, engines, transmissions, brakes, ignition, axles, fuel system, engine management systems, suspension systems, electrical/electronic systems, emission control systems, air conditioning/refrigeration systems, working with hydraulics
- Experience adjusting, overhauling, repairing and reassembling engines, transmissions, clutches, rear ends, differentials, brakes, drive shafts, axles and other assemblies
- Knowledge of proper tools and equipment required for jobs, and responsible for ensuring that equipment is present. Must be comfortable reporting missing tools or damaged tools to lead mechanic
- Demonstrated ability to use various diagnostic equipment to diagnose and isolate faults or malfunctions
- Ability and knowledge to work in a safe manner, report any unsafe equipment or conditions
- Able to communicate clearly and effectively with customers, supervisors, and co-workers to diagnose and report on problems
- Comfortable reading and interpreting owner/operator/manufacturer operating manuals and service specifications as well as work orders
- Ensures participation in all relevant training and skills upgrading required to effectively and safely perform duties
- Able to work closely with peers in both maintenance and operations
- Experience with preventative maintenance and servicing of all equipment
- Ability to check and recognize proper performance of equipment to detect faults and malfunctions
- Trouble shooting systems – example: hydraulic, electrical, mechanical of all equipment and determine faults and extent of repair
- Test repaired equipment for proper performance and to ensure work meets manufacturer specifications
- Mobilization of equipment for maintenance and repair
- Comfortable developing work scopes and schedules for equipment to be repaired, while being flexible when higher priority work comes up
- Order parts for servicing, complete reports and fill out work orders
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Strong communication skills to discuss problems with customers and explain solutions
- Ability to apply basic mathematical skills
- Fluent in English for both oral and written communication. Ability to effectively communicate one on one and in small groups
- Ideal candidate would have ultimate plans to become fully licensed Heavy Duty Mechanic with certification or 310T (preferred by not mandatory; experience valued over certifications)
- Valid Class G Driver's License
- Physical demands: the employee must be able to sit, stand, kneel, stoop, bend, lift occasionally and work in confided spaces. Overtime as required.
