Payroll and Accounting Coordinator

Position Summary
The Payroll and Accounting Coordinator is responsible for processing payroll accurately and on time while supporting general accounting operations. This role ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and maintains accurate financial records. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and able to handle confidential information with integrity.
Key Responsibilities
Payroll Administration
- Process biweekly/semimonthly payroll for all employees
- Maintain payroll records, including earnings, deductions, and tax withholdings
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations
- Administer employee benefits deductions (health insurance, retirement, etc.)
- Reconcile payroll reports and resolve discrepancies
- Prepare and file payroll tax reports and year-end forms (e.g., W-2s, 1099s)
- Respond to employee payroll inquiries
Accounting Support
- Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable functions
- Prepare journal entries and maintain general ledger accounts
- Perform monthly bank and account reconciliations
- Support month-end and year-end closing processes
- Maintain financial records and documentation in compliance with company policies
- Assist with audits and financial reporting
- Assist with cost analysis
Qualifications
Education:
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
Experience:
- 2+ years of payroll and/or accounting experience
- Experience with payroll software and accounting systems
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong knowledge of payroll regulations and accounting principles
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Effective communication and problem-solving skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation
- Experience with multi-state payroll processing
- Familiarity with HRIS systems
Salary
Starting salary $ 65,000 to $ 75,000 based on experience
Pay: $65,000.00-$75,000.00 per year
