Hey, you! Yeah, you. If you’re reading this, you’re probably tired of reading the same tired cliches that every company includes in their job advertisements: “we’re looking for rockstar employees”; “we want committed individuals with 10 years experience,” or - our personal favourite - “wages start at minimum, with opportunities for advancement after a year with the company.” Who writes these posts? Do they really think they’re going to find driven, creative and talented people with such mundane, lazy write-ups? If you’re like us, you’re looking for something more in sync with the demands of the modern working world, something better.
Job Description: If you managed to get through our awful sales pitch without rolling your eyes to the back of your skull, we’re off to a good start. Now, what exactly does a team member for Atkinson Landscaping do? We are looking for team members who are capable of maintaining our strata properties using a variety of tools in order to keep our properties looking magazine worthy. A typical day in the life of an Atkinson Landscaping employee would look a little like this:
8 a.m. : Meet your co-worker at the yard to pick up your truck and tools for the day. Check your run on our automated dispatch system and roll out.
8:30 - 11:30 a.m. : Arrive at your first site. Clock in to the job on your phone and unload your tools: mowers, line trimmers, chainsaws, ladders - whatever the particular job requires. Mow the lawn, weed the beds, prune plants, feel the morning dew, listen to a podcast, laugh to yourself knowing that your friends are stuck working at Starbucks. Dump all of the waste into the truck bed, load up your tools and head to the next site. Rinse and repeat until lunch.
12 - 12:30 p.m (or whenever you get hungry) : Eat a well deserved lunch because mitochondria is the powerhouse of the cell.
12:30 - 3:30 p.m. : Keep killing it.
3:30 p.m. : Head back to the yard to dump your truck and unload any tools that aren’t kept in the truck. Clean the truck out and make sure it is organized for tomorrow.
4 p.m. : Head on home and enjoy your time off without worrying about deadlines or responding to emails.
