About the Role
The Heritage Tea Room is seeking a motivated and customer-focused Assistant Manager to support the day-to-day operations of our tea room. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys hospitality, leading a team, and creating an exceptional guest experience in a welcoming and professional environment.
The Assistant Manager will work closely with the Manager to oversee daily operations, support staff, maintain food safety standards, and ensure excellent customer service.
Responsibilities
- Assist with the daily operation of the tea room, including front and back-of-house activities.
- Lead and support team members to provide outstanding customer service.
- Assist with staff scheduling, training, coaching, and performance management.
- Ensure food quality, presentation, and service standards are consistently maintained.
- Monitor inventory levels and assist with ordering supplies and products.
- Maintain cleanliness, organization, and compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Handle customer inquiries and resolve concerns professionally.
- Support cash handling procedures and daily reconciliations.
- Assist with special events, catering functions, and seasonal promotions as required.
- Step into a leadership role in the Manager's absence.
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of experience in food service, hospitality, or restaurant supervision.
- Strong leadership and team-building skills.
- Excellent customer service and communication abilities.
- Experience with scheduling, training, and coaching staff is an asset.
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Flexible availability, including occasional weekends and special events.
- Food Handler Certification is considered an asset.
