CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS :
· 8+ years Experience in Natural Health Products, Dietary Supplements, and Manufacturing & RegulationsExperience with 3rd party certifications
· Experience with managing and leading a lean team
· Experience with Audit management, Import/Export compliance, and Label compliance
· Director is hands-on with daily work
· Solution-oriented (not overly bureaucratic)
· Strong communication, interpersonal and problem solving skills
· Able to say “no” when necessary and explain why
· Self-motivated and able to work under pressure and time sensitive conditions
POSITION OVERVIEW :
· The Director of Quality & Compliance is a hands-on leader responsible for building, strengthening, and scaling the Quality Management System (QMS) to support growth in both Canadian and U.S. markets.
· Overseeing all quality assurance, quality control, regulatory compliance, and product safety activities for a natural health products, dietary supplement, and food manufacturing.
· Unlike large corporate environments, this role requires both strategic leadership and day-to-day operational execution.
· This role ensures compliance with:
- Health Canada Natural Health Products Regulations
- Health Canada Site Licence requirements
- FDA 21 CFR Part 111
- U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) dietary supplement regulations
- NSF, SQF, CFIA, Gluten, Kosher, Organic, SMETA
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES :
1. Oversee QC, QA, and Regulatory departments : Be able to perform job functions of Quality Control Manager, Regulatory Affairs Manager, and Quality Technicians.
2. Build and Strengthen the Quality System
3. Regulatory Oversight : Maintain compliance and licensing to all applicable regulatory agencies
4. Hand-On with Audits/Inspections, Regulatory Responses, Troubleshooting production-quality issues, Creating product specifications, Quality Agreements
5. Label & Claims Compliance : Canadian NPN, US Supplement Facts, Food compliance.
6. Supplier & Contract Oversight : Qualify and audit suppliers remotely. Create supplier quality agreements.
7. Complaint, Adverse Event & Recall Management
8. Work cross-functional with Product Development, Sales, and Operations to ensure compliance with efficient commercialization.
9. Culture & Leadership : Support scaling operations without overbuilding bureaucracy. Balance compliance discipline with business agility.
