Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Lumber Sales Associate to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess strong customer service skills, a solid understanding of building materials and a passion for helping customers find the right products for their needs. This role involves assisting customers in the lumber, plumbing and electrical departments, providing product information, and ensuring a well-organized shopping environment.
Responsibilities
- Assist customers with product selection and inquiries related to lumber and building materials.
- Maintain an organized and visually appealing merchandising display in the store.
- Provide exceptional customer service by answering questions, resolving issues, and upselling products when appropriate.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient store operations and maintain inventory levels.
- Utilize math skills for pricing, measurements, and inventory management.
- Communicate effectively with customers and team members, demonstrating strong phone etiquette when necessary.
- Manage time efficiently to ensure all tasks are completed in a timely manner.
Qualifications
- Two (2) or more years experience in the construction industry with a solid knowledge of building materials
- Previous experience in retail sales and using POS systems
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Familiarity with merchandising techniques and product displays
- An intermediate level of math skills for handling transactions accurately
- Excellent organizational skills to maintain a tidy work environment
- Ability to manage time effectively while multitasking in a fast-paced environment
