POSITION SUMMARY:
The Cultural Facilitator - Female supports SIHLRC’s continuum of care by helping female relatives engage
in ceremony, cultural practice, and relational support grounded in Blackfoot ways of knowing and
Siksikaitsitapi teachings. This role helps create a culturally safe environment where relatives can reconnect
with identity, community, and land-based healing as part of recovery. The position works closely with the
Cultural Team Lead and interdisciplinary staff to support culturally grounded programming that aligns with
trauma-informed, strengths-based, and harm reduction practice.
Applicants must demonstrate clear alignment with SIHLRC’s vision, mission, values, and recovery-oriented
approach, including Siksikaitsitapi teachings, Blackfoot cultural values, trauma‑informed practice, harm
reduction, and Recovery-Oriented Systems of Care (ROSC)
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Duties include but are not limited to:
1. Facilitate cultural activities, teachings, and structured support for female relatives in alignment with SIHLRC
programming.
2. Support ceremonial preparation and follow cultural protocols under Elder and Cultural Team Lead guidance.
3. Build respectful relationships with relatives that reflect cultural humility, safety, and relational practice.
4. Coordinate with clinical and recovery staff to support integrated care planning and daily programming.
5. Maintain appropriate documentation, schedules, and communication related to cultural activities and
participation.
6. Model professionalism, confidentiality, and grounded cultural presence in all interactions.
7. Contribute to land-based, seasonal, and community-connected activities as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Demonstrated knowledge of Siksika Nation, Siksikaitsitapi teachings, ceremony, and cultural protocols relevant
to women’s cultural support.
- Experience supporting Indigenous community programming, healing, wellness, or recovery services is strongly
preferred.
- Ability to work respectfully with female relatives in trauma-informed and strengths-based ways.
- Ability to support evening programming and community-connected activities reliably.
Education and Experience
High school diploma or equivalent, or equivalent community-based and cultural experience.
First Aid/CPR certification, or willingness to obtain within a specified timeframe.
Professional Designation/Certification/Licenses:
Clear Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check prior to employment.
Other:
Requires general knowledge of the Siksika Nation culture and some ability to communicate in the Siksika language.
