The Hornets Lacrosse association is a community-based organization dedicated to developing athletes, leaders, and positive experiences through the sport of lacrosse in Calgary. We are seeking an Executive Director to provide operational support for the organization.
Reporting to the Board of Directors, this is a dynamic role responsible for day-to-day operations, supporting volunteers, coordination and execution of events and fundraising, and maintaining relationships within the lacrosse community. This is an opportunity for a collaborative, community-minded individual to make a meaningful impact in amateur sport and youth development.
As Executive Director you will be responsible for:
- Day-to-day operations of the Hornets Lacrosse Association to ensure efficient, effective club administration throughout the year.
- Providing financial oversight, including budgeting, audit preparation, payment processing, and working closely with the bookkeeper and Treasurer.
- Coordinating and supporting club programs and events, including tryouts, evaluations, camps, tournaments, raffles, casinos, and picture day.
- Leading fundraising and non-registration revenue initiatives, including raffles, casinos, and grant writing in compliance with all regulatory requirements.
- Serving as the primary liaison with leagues and governing bodies (ALA, CDLA, RMLL) and attending required meetings and planning sessions and ALA AGM.
- Supporting and collaborating with the Board of Directors, including attending board and planning meetings and assisting with policies, bylaws, and reporting, and taking on board positions when they are vacant.
- Managing registrations, payments, volunteering, and reporting systems (e.g., Ramp, TeamSnap, league systems) to ensure accurate records and compliance.
- Communicating with families, volunteers, coaches, managers, coordinators, facilities, and external partners throughout the season.
- Coordinating facility bookings, apparel and equipment ordering, and maintaining inventories in collaboration with volunteers and board roles.
- Overseeing operations and finances for the Junior Ladies Cardinals program, including league liaison, budgeting, registrations, scheduling, and year-end reporting.
Qualifications
- Proven experience supporting operations and administration in a nonprofit, sport, or volunteer‑based organization to include governance.
- Demonstrated capability in financial management, including budgeting, audits, revenue tracking, and working with treasurers/bookkeepers
- Experience coordinating programs, events, and fundraising activities, including raffles, casinos, and seasonal initiatives
- Strong ability to build relationships and work effectively with a Board of Directors and diverse stakeholders, including volunteers, families, leagues, and partners
- Highly organized, detail‑oriented professional with strong communication skills.

Contract length: 18 months
Pay: $25,000.00-$35,000.00 per year
