About Prep’n Sell
Prep’n Sell is a trusted Canadian home improvement brand helping homeowners and real estate professionals get properties ready for sale — faster, easier, and with one call. Each franchise location works with a local social media coordinator, with the support of the corporate team, to keep their online presence active, engaging, and locally focused.
The Brief:
We’re looking for a freelancer to help grow a locally owned home improvement business that specializes in preparing homes for sale.
We’re open to professionals as well as students or early-career marketers seeking practical experience and flexible scheduling. This is an excellent opportunity for a marketing student or recent graduate looking to gain hands-on experience in real-world digital marketing, while supporting a well-known, growing Canadian franchise network.
You’ll support the franchise owner by creating and scheduling social media posts, building engagement with local community audiences and specific referral partner market segments, and improving brand recognition with local homeowners and professionals in the territory.
Our ideal freelancer will be reliable, organized, results-oriented, and community-minded.
Responsibilities will vary as we work through a newly developed Local Marketing Playbook. Each week, you’ll get an assignment, challenge or set of tasks, such as:
- Create and schedule social media posts, and write short, polished captions with correct hashtags, maintaining brand tone across all communications
- Engage with followers and respond to comments or messages
- Support and spread awareness of local community and neighbourhood-building events via social media
- Share updates on Google Business Profile, LinkedIn, Meta Business Pages
- Collect and organize project photos and client testimonials
- Track and report on leads and lead sources, and engagement results
- Maintain light social media outreach and follow-up, sending friendly follow-ups (primarily DMs) to potential referral partners
- Update and maintain contact lists with contact details captured on social media platforms
Report To:
Franchise Owner: Communicate with and report to the Franchise Owner
Head Office Team: Training, templates, and brand oversight
Core Skills and Experience (must haves):
Software: SocialPilot (what we use), Hootsuite, Buffer or similar — social scheduling, tagging, basic analytics
Platforms: Meta Business Suite (Instagram, Facebook), Google Business Profile (GMB), LinkedIn
Post Creation: Canva or Adobe Creative Cloud/CapCut — basic image/video formatting, simple before/after layouts, clean captions, correct tagging/hashtags
Google Workspace: Familiar with and able to maintain an organized structure on Shared Google Drives, Gmail, Calendar, etc.
Outreach: Professional, polite, informative, not salesy; able to provide short intros to local contacts via post commenting/sharing, DMs, or email. Write scripts for video content development. Administrative or customer service experience is a positive.
Early-stage business support or community engagement work is a definite plus.
Email List Maintenance: Review bounced emails from the company’s Constant Contact list and use Instagram, LinkedIn, and brokerage websites to locate updated contact details for realtors who may have changed brokerages or agencies. Reaching out via social media to follow up open/click through email marketing campaigns.
You’ll be great at this if you:
- Want to gain real-world marketing experience with a national home-improvement brand, learn how franchise marketing works from the inside, and be part of a small business success story
- Have access to a computer/laptop, stable internet connection, and mobile phone for login verification
- Equipment: A smartphone capable of shooting clean 1080p photo and video is required, since much of the content is captured on site (before/after shots, short vertical clips). Basic stabilization (gimbal or tripod) and a clip-on or lav mic are assets but not required.
Hours + Compensation
- ~7 hours per week during business hours, spread over 3–5 days
- Remote work, flexible schedule — ideal for students balancing coursework or other part-time work and wanting to build a professional portfolio while working with experienced marketing professionals and business owners
- Invoice for hours worked at $20/hour
