What will you be doing!

Financial Planning, Analysis, and Forecasting:

Understanding key financial and operational performance drivers and integrating them into financial models to support analysis and forecasting against financial goals.

Analyzing monthly, quarterly, and year‑over‑year results and trends, while producing, updating, and consolidating rolling forecasts to ensure data accuracy and integrity.

Developing trend analyses and consolidated forecasts across all groups.
-
Preparing, analyzing, and interpreting monthly budgetary results.
-
Conducting what‑if scenario analyses, including cost‑benefit and breakeven assessments for specific projects.
-
Performance Management, Risk, and Decision Support:
-
Assessing financial risks and evaluating proposed corrective actions to ensure alignment with plan objectives and targets, escalating issues as required.

Performing proactive trend and variance analyses using best‑practice benchmarks.
-
Investigating process and performance gaps to identify root causes.
-
Developing and communicating clear, actionable recommendations to support performance improvement initiatives.
-
Business Case Development and Opportunity Evaluation:
-
Conducting financial evaluations of new business and customer opportunities.
-
Applying standard cost impact analysis and financial modelling techniques to assess projected benefits and risks.
-
Supporting strategic decision‑making by clearly communicating the financial implications of proposed initiatives.
-
Data, Analytics, and Business Intelligence:
-
Identifying opportunities to standardize and enhance the use of data, analytics, and artificial intelligence capabilities.
-
Building and sustaining a data and analytics center of excellence, including governance of analytical models and algorithms.
-
Developing and maintaining analytics solutions that enable scalable, repeatable improvements in services.
-
Producing dashboards, performance metrics, savings reports, and contract compliance analyses to drive informed decision‑making.

Reporting and Insights:
-
Developing and enhancing financial reports to deliver deeper business insights.
-
Creating recurring reports and data outputs to support operational and financial transparency.
-
Ensuring reporting solutions are scalable, consistent, and aligned with business needs.
-
Communication and Stakeholder Engagement:
-
Developing and delivering presentations that demonstrate the value and impact of data, analytics, and business intelligence.
-
Translating complex financial and analytical insights into clear, actionable information for diverse stakeholder audiences.

What we are looking for:
-
Education
-
Post-secondary diploma in a related field, commerce, finance, economics, accounting, or business administration.
-
Relevant professional designation or working towards one (CPA, (CA, CMA) or CGA).
-
Experience
-
2-3 years’ experience in Finance Operations or Decision Support.
-
Experience with statistical analysis software, such as SAS, is highly desirable. Familiarity with SQL data query skills a plus
-
Experience in computer programming, query languages, and internet-based data visualization platforms such as Tableau, Power BI and/or Cognos is also preferred
-
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
-
Proficient in computer skills and competent with Microsoft Office programs and other job-relevant programs.

Excellent team-building, leadership skills, and experience.

Sound organizational, analytical, judgment and decision-making skills with proven abilities in problem solving.

Solid interpersonal skills with an ability to build and maintain relationships.

Strong oral and written communication skills.

High level of proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Demonstrated ability to effectively coordinate, allocate, and manage resources and projects throughout multiple teams.

Knowledge of trends and developments in the fields of data management and data analytics.

Possesses information management and quantitative skills, including working knowledge of IT infrastructure, various technologies/platforms, and enterprise-specific vendor solutions.

Demonstrated analytical, written, oral, and presentation skills with a proven track record of effectively communicating actionable insights.

Strong diplomatic skills and ability to help senior business leaders see value, opportunities, and risks beyond their own area of expertise.

Ability to understand problems from a broad perspective and anticipate the impact of administrative issues and solutions.

Familiar with big data technologies (e.g. Cognos) and Extract Transform Load (ETL) tools, considered an asset.

Security Clearance Eligibility Required

Reliability Status, which has a minimum requirement of 3-5 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United States and/or the United Kingdom. CNL implements security screening in accordance with the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat's “Standard on Security Screening” and the “Policy on Government Security.”

Working schedule: Five (5) days per week, seven and a half (7.5) hours per day for a thirty-seven and a half (37.5) hour work week.

This position is offered on a fully remote basis, allowing you to work from home anywhere in Canada. You’ll collaborate virtually with a dynamic team across CNL sites, helping to advance Canada’s clean energy and environmental goals from your home office.
