Tender Years Co-operative School has proudly served the Mississauga community for over 40 years. As a not-for-profit, CWELCC-participating child care centre, we are committed to creating a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment where children can learn, grow, and thrive. We are expanding our team and are seeking passionate, caring, and enthusiastic Registered Early Childhood Educators (RECE) to join our centre!
Responsibilities
- Provide quality compassionate care and support to children and their families
- Build positive relationships with children and seek opportunities to deepen connections with parents and families keeping them up to date on their child’s progress
- Be a creative play partner who is actively engaged with the children and makes learning fun
- Independently ensure the safety and supervision of children at all times, while working alone and/or with other Child Care Educators
- Understand and comply with provincial (CCEYA), municipal, and TYCS policies and procedures
- Observe and expand on children’s learning opportunities and complete required documentation of children’s development and interactions
- Listen to and respond to children’s needs which includes diapering and assisting children with toileting
- Clean and sanitize child care spaces, toys and equipment
- Prepare and serve food following TYCS health and safety protocols and procedures
- Understands the legal responsibilities and moral imperative to report suspected child abuse to child protection services
- Attend required curriculum training and professional development opportunities.
- Maintain qualifications and certifications as required by the TYCS and provincial standards
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Registered Early Childhood Educator Qualifications:
- Early Childhood Educator Diploma
- Must be registered and a member in good standing in the College of Early Childhood Educators (CECE)
General Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3-5 year’s RECE experience working with young children
- Well-developed interpersonal, and relationship building skills; ability to establish rapport and excellent communication with members, staff and volunteers
- Excellent written communication skills
- Ability to lift , bend, stoop, push, carrying and pulling
- Must be able to work outdoors for at least 2 hours daily year-round; may be exposed to heat, humidity or cold
- Flexibility regarding assigned working hours
- Commitment to working in a socially inclusive environment responding with sensitivity and personal awareness to the diverse needs of members including visible and non-visible dimensions of diversity
- A capacity to work within a team
Successful candidates will be required to provide the following prior to first day of work:
- Current Standard First Aid and CPR Level C certification
- Successful completion of Vulnerable Sector Check within 6 months of hire date
- Up-to-date immunizations and TB test
- Registration with college of ECE
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $25.86-$28.00 per hour
