Hydro Richards Inc. is a privately owned company and a subsidiary of Hydro Inc. Located in Port Coquitlam, BC, we operate out of a 13,000 sq. ft. facility specializing in high-quality machining and repair services.
We are currently seeking an experienced Journeyman/woman Manual Machinist to join our team. This is a long-term position intended to replace a highly skilled machinist who has performed this role for over 20 years. We are looking for someone who takes pride in their craft and is interested in building a lasting career with our company.
Key Responsibilities
- Manual turning of shafts, including threading and taper cutting
- Producing high-precision components to tight tolerances
- Interpreting engineering drawings and specifications
- Maintaining high standards of quality, safety, and workmanship
- Collaborating with team members to continuously improve processes
Required Qualifications
- Journeyman/woman Machinist certification
- Minimum 5+ years of hands-on experience as a manual machinist
- Strong competence in all aspects of manual turning practices
- Proven experience turning shafts
- Strong mechanical aptitude
- Excellent communication skills in spoken and written English
- High level of safety awareness and commitment
What Will Put You Ahead
- Machinist training program or certificate (BCIT Machinist Technician Program or equivalent)
- Experience machining to tight tolerances (±0.001”)
- Quality control experience, including working knowledge of GD&T
- Prior experience in shaft turning applications
- A collaborative mindset with a desire to contribute ideas and improve processes
- Strong problem-solving skills and mechanical intuition
- Eagerness to learn and continuously develop machining skills
