Lower Grades Educator (Grades 1 & 2)
Location: Vancouver Waldorf School, North Vancouver, BC
Start Date: Beginning of the 2026–2027 School Year
Salary: $53,810 – $85,156 per annum, prorated to FTE, based on experience and qualifications
Job Type: Permanent, Full-Time (0.74 - 0.81 FTE)
The Vancouver Waldorf School (VWS) is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Lower Grades Educator to join our Grade School faculty. This position involves teaching Math,English Language Arts, ADST, Science, and Physical & Health Education in Grades 1 and 2, fostering a lo, ve of learning through the rich and developmentally attuned Waldorf curriculum.
The successful candidate will bring a deep commitment to Waldorf education, strong classroom leadership, and the ability to work collaboratively across departments. A passion for teaching, a warm and grounded presence, and clear communication with students, colleagues, and families are essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver daily lessons across core subjects, aligned with both the Waldorf curriculum and BC Ministry of Education learning outcomes
- Prepare and maintain a well-ordered, nurturing classroom environment
- Assess and document student progress, and provide oral and written progress reports
- Participate in parent-teacher conferences and maintain clear communication with families
- Attend and participate in faculty meetings, school events, and festivals
- Support school life and collegial work, including substitute teaching when required
- Commit to ongoing professional development
Qualifications & Requirements
- BC Teaching Certificate, or the ability to qualify through the BC Ministry of Education's Teacher Certification Branch; 3 years previous teaching experience is a requirement.
- Waldorf Teacher Training Certificate or willingness to begin training within two years of hire
- Experience teaching in the lower grades preferred
- Fluency in written and spoken English
- Excellent communication, organization, and collaboration skills
- A collaborative spirit and commitment to whole-school life
