General Labourer
Hi-Kalibre Equipment is looking for a General Labourer to join our team in Edmonton, Alberta.
The General Labourer position is responsible for performing a wide variety of tasks around the shop and must be able to understand instructions and carry them out efficiently within the given deadline.
Hours/week: 40+
Role Responsibilities
- Complete tasks such as cutting split rings and plating various parts for assembly.
- De-burring, grinding, or finishing of metal parts using all types of air/electric grinders or sanders.
- Move material from one area to another using forklifts, pallet jacks, or cranes.
- Responsible for the phosphating process and reports substandard phosphating performance to Foreman and Quality Representative.
- Perform chemical analysis for phosphate tank and water treatment facility.
- Read and interpret work order instructions.
- Maintain cleanliness of the shop floor by sweeping, emptying garbages, operating floor cleaner, and collecting rags, etc.
- Maintain sidewalks in winter months which includes snow shoveling, salting, and sweeping.
- Assist service department in yard maintenance, this includes sweeping, sanding, snow removal, and wood disposal, etc.
- Performing daily maintenance of equipment in accordance with preventive maintenance programs.
- Perform work in accordance with safety programs and procedures, with due care and attention for both you and your co-workers.
- Any other duties as directed by the Foreman.
Role Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- A minimum of one-year experience in manufacturing or shop environment.
- Mechanical background is preferable.
- Excellent listening skills and communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Work independently with little direct supervision.
- Ability to learn and retain knowledge of company’s products and services.
- Ability to problem solve independently and troubleshoot as required.
- Able to work within a fast-paced and changing work environment.
- Self-starter: motivated, task focused, and results driven.
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
- Frequent bending and twisting.
- Manual and repetitive tasks.
- Must be able to lift and carry equipment up to 50 lbs.
- Crane Training is required.
- Forklift Training is required
