Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Kitchen Assistant to support camp kitchen team at our annual Sing Summer camps in Berwick (August 7-22). The ideal candidate will assist with meal preparation, food handling, and maintaining a clean and organized kitchen environment. This role reports to the Head Cook and offers an excellent opportunity to gain experience in the food industry and develop essential skills related to food safety and kitchen operations.
Duties
- Assist with food preparation and meal assembly according to established recipes and standards
- Support cooking activities under the supervision the Head Cook
- Handle food safely and hygienically, adhering to all food safety regulations
- Prepare ingredients, wash produce, and organize supplies for efficient kitchen workflow
- Maintain cleanliness of workstations, utensils, and equipment throughout shifts
- Support kitchen team and volunteers throughout the food service process
Skills
- Familiarity with food handling procedures and food safety standards
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
- Good communication skills and ability to follow instructions accurately
- Ability to work as part of a team in a busy kitchen setting
