Position Overview:

Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, Electricians install, maintain, troubleshoot, test, and repair industrial electrical equipment in accordance with the electrical code. This position follows a rotating schedule of either Monday to Thursday or Tuesday to Friday, from 7:00am to 5:00pm, or alternatively, a consistent Monday to Friday schedule from 7:00am to 3:00am. After completing the probationary period, the successful candidate will be required to participate in an on-call rotation every 5 to 6 weeks. During these on-call periods, the Electrician will be responsible for addressing any electrical issues that arise outside of regular working hours, either by providing support over the phone or by attending the site in person as needed.
This is a unionized position under the collective agreement between USW Local 1-417 and Molycop. The hourly wage for this role is $55.86, and the position includes benefits such as extended health and dental coverage, a comprehensive pension plan, and other employee benefits as outlined in the agreement.
Responsibilities:
- Adhere to safety protocols.
- Read and understand drawings, blueprints, schematics and electrical code requirements to decide the layout of industrial electrical equipment installations.
- Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems per codes and safety standards.
- Perform calibration and instrumentation work as necessary.
- Work closely with other departments and other trades to ensure seamless equipment operation.
- Troubleshoot electrical issues and implement effective solutions .
- Conduct maintenance programs and keep records.
Qualifications:
- Journeyperson Electrician – Canadian Red Seal Certification.
- Electrical FSR (Field Safety Representative) certification is not required but is an asset.
- At least 10 years of post-certification experience as a Journeyperson.
- Strong commitment to working safely.
- Working knowledge of electrical codes and regulations.
- Experience in electrical installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
- Physical ability to perform demanding tasks.
- Comfortable working at heights and in confined spaces.
- Knowledge and experience working with PLC programming and control systems.
- Good communication skills, self-motivated, dependable, timely and able to work well with others.
