Robert Half Canada is recruiting for a Senior Manager, Finance on behalf of a client. This position is responsible for overseeing accounting operations, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, audit coordination, and financial controls for a multi-entity environment. The role also includes leadership responsibilities, with a focus on supporting and developing team members while helping drive process improvements and sound financial management practices.
The successful candidate will bring strong technical accounting knowledge, leadership experience, and the ability to manage multiple financial priorities in a dynamic environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the delivery of accurate and timely financial statements, including external reporting and internal management insights.
Own the budgeting and forecasting cycle, providing ongoing analysis, variance reporting, and strategic recommendations to senior leadership.
Oversee all core accounting functions, including general ledger activities, accounts payable/receivable, cash flow management, and statutory reporting.
Ensure strong internal controls are in place, maintaining compliance with applicable accounting standards (ASPE/GAAP), regulatory requirements, and company policies.
Prepare and present quarterly financial results to senior stakeholders, including the Board and key committees.
Drive improvements in collections processes to enhance cash flow and reduce outstanding receivables.
Review and approve operating expenses and monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
Partner cross-functionally (including marketing) to support budgeting, planning, and performance tracking initiatives.
Manage banking relationships, including oversight of investments, foreign exchange activities, and cash management.
Oversee financial reporting for specialized programs (e.g., gift card/revenue streams).
Lead the annual audit process and coordinate with external auditors; prepare draft financial statements and related disclosures.
Ensure compliance with tax regulations, including oversight of filings and support for tax planning initiatives.
Monitor financial performance, identifying trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
Evaluate and enhance accounting processes, implementing efficiencies and best practices where appropriate.
Develop and track key performance metrics to support informed decision-making.
Collaborate with legal and external partners on contractual, compliance, and tax matters.
Manage government reporting requirements, including indirect taxes and audit coordination.
Provide leadership to the finance team, including coaching, development, and performance management.
Set departmental priorities, oversee daily operations, and foster a collaborative team environment.
Lead hiring and talent development efforts within the finance function.
Represent finance in internal meetings and contribute to broader business initiatives as required.
Support additional projects and responsibilities as needed.
Qualifications
CPA
Experience in one of the following industries: CPG, Restaurants/Foodservice, Hospitality, Pharmaceuticals or Retail
Experience performing the core duties outlines above
