- Schedule: On-call, Monday–Friday between 7:30am–6:00pm
This role is ideal for someone who is flexible, enjoys variety in their work, and is passionate about supporting children’s growth in a fun and engaging environment.
As an On Call Child Care Substitute, you will support the delivery of high-quality child care programs.
- Assist in planning and delivering engaging, play-based programming aligned with YMCA values
- Maintain safety and supervision in accordance with provincial licensing requirements
- Build positive relationships with children, families, and colleagues
- Actively engage with children ages 1–12 as a play partner and learning supporter
- Support activities such as literacy, math, science, creative play, sports, and team-building
- Encourage inclusive and respectful interactions among children
- Participate in YMCA community initiatives and programs
- Must be at least 19 years of age (provincial licensing requirement)
- Minimum 20 hours of relevant training in child development, health, safety, or guidance (Responsible Adult Certificate)
- Valid First Aid Certificate with CPR Level B or C
- ECE-A, ECE, or Infant/Toddler certification (asset)
- Valid Class 4 driver’s license (asset)

- Satisfactory Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Search (within 6 months of start date)
- Completion of YMCA onboarding and safety training
