Job Overview
We are seeking a Mechanical Drafter/Junior Engineer to support the design and improvement of industrial equipment used in the bulk material handling and mining industry. You will work on custom-engineered solutions, adapting designs to meet project-specific requirements while collaborating with engineering, manufacturing, and sales teams to ensure designs are accurate, manufacturable, and aligned with customer needs.
Responsibilities
- Create and maintain detailed 3D models and 2D drawings (SolidWorks) for mechanical components and assemblies.
- Modify and adapt existing designs to meet project-specific and customer requirements.
- Generate and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs) and support integration with ERP systems.
- Prepare clear and accurate manufacturing documentation, including fabrication drawings and assembly packages.
- Collaborate with manufacturing, sales, and engineering teams to ensure designs are practical and cost-effective.
- Assist in troubleshooting design/manufacturing issues and implementing continuous improvements to existing products.
- Contribute to the development of design standards, templates, and processes as part of ongoing modernization efforts.

Educational Requirements
- Engineering Technologist Diploma or Engineering Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Equivalent practical experience will also be considered.
Experience Requirements
- 0–3 years of experience in mechanical design or a related field.
- Experience with machine or industrial equipment design preferred.
- Familiarity with manufacturing environments, including welding, machining, or fabrication processes preferred.
- Proficiency in 3D CAD with SolidWorks.
- Experience creating and interpreting technical drawings for manufacturing.
- Solid understanding of fundamental mechanical engineering principles.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a practical, hands-on mindset.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills for working with cross-functional teams.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Experience working with ERP systems (preferably Epicor) and managing Bills of Materials.
