Product Assembly Technician

The Opportunity
A key part of the team, Gradient has an immediate opening for a Product Assembly Technician in our manufacturing department. This critical, hands-on role effectively assembles Gradient’s high-efficiency heating products to the high-quality standard we commit to our customers. Typical Duties:
- Promote, maintain, and model a safety culture, including maintaining a clean and organized work environment.
- Dedication to customer service through timely completion of responsibilities and unwavering commitment to quality.
- Manufacture assemblies in accordance with processes and procedures.
- Support innovation, new product or service development and continuous improvement.
- Identify, troubleshoot and resolve assembly, programming, testing and related issues.
- Accurate data collection and recording.
Assembly
- Product assembly, which will include assembling sheet metal, electrical, gas and plumbing components into sub-assemblies and finished units.
- Wire harness and control component assembly, which includes cutting, lamination, wiring, crimping and soldering.
Programming and Test
- Test and verification of products throughout the assembly process, including sub-assemblies and finished goods.
- Control programming of products.
Calibration and Calibration Verification
- Test equipment calibration and general manufacturing system upkeep.
Lean Manufacturing
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment and contribute to a lean culture through participation in ideas and initiatives.
Quality
- Inspection of incoming materials from suppliers and work with other team members to resolve supply related issues
- In-process inspection in accordance with work instructions / quality control plans
- Track and record process or defect related data
- Assist in root-cause analysis
Training will be provided.
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma.
- Capacity to understand and provide feedback to technical documentation including project plans, test procedures, design documents and drawings, bills of material, routings, work instructions etc.
- Intermediate level assembly experience
- Intermediate software and PC user knowledge
- Displays strong acumen in the area of quality, process improvement, inventory and business, or a willingness to learn.
- Detail-oriented with strong organization and prioritization skills.
- Good written and verbal communication abilities.
- A strong team player who has the ability to collaborate to create value and has the willingness and acumen to grow with the company.
- Customer driven and laser-focused on delivering value.
- Entrepreneurial, willing to bring an owner’s-mindset to activities.
- Ability to work independently and maturely without a lot of guidance or supervision.
- Can coach and train others.
- Leads by example.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a manufacturing or production environment, preferably one that has embraced a Lean culture in a relevant industry.
- Secondary school diploma or technical education in engineering, electronics, mechanical and/or instrumentation technology, business or project management or similar education is appreciated.
- Preference will be given to applicants with electronics certificate. Experience with controls systems would be an asset.
- Hands on test, calibration and troubleshooting experience are considered assets.
- Experience with HVAC, gas equipment and plumbing are all considered assets.
Work Conditions or Unique Requirements
- Able to lift up to 30Lbs
- May be required to perform other duties, depending on the needs of the company
