About the Role
We’re hiring for our inaugural teaching team — either two part-time teachers (Tuesday–Thursday) or one full-time and one part-time teacher, depending on enrollment and the right candidate(s).
The Point Micro School is a new, not-for-profit, nature-inspired learning community on Nova Scotia’s Eastern Shore. Inspired by Waldorf education and place-based learning, we offer children a rich environment grounded in curiosity, creativity, meaningful work, and connection with nature.
As a founding teacher, you’ll help shape our school’s culture, traditions, and educational program from day one.
About the Program
- Mixed-age classroom (ages 4–6)
- Small class sizes
- Tuesday–Thursday schedule, 9:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m.
- Waldorf-inspired, nature-based, outdoor learning
- Strong emphasis on arts, storytelling, practical life skills, movement, and social-emotional development
- Located at All Apostles by the Sea Parish, with plans to relocate to a permanent rural location in the future
Responsibilities
- Create a warm, welcoming, engaging learning environment
- Foster meaningful relationships with children and families
- Plan and facilitate developmentally appropriate learning experiences
- Incorporate outdoor learning, nature exploration, arts, movement, music, storytelling, and practical life activities into the daily rhythm
- Support children’s social, emotional, and academic growth
- Observe and document student progress
- Communicate regularly with families
- Collaborate closely with fellow educators and the school founders
- Help establish routines, traditions, and classroom culture during our inaugural year
- Maintain a safe, organized, and inspiring learning environment

Qualifications (preferred, not all required)
- Bachelor of Education, ECE diploma, or equivalent experience
- Nova Scotia Teacher Certification (preferred but not required depending on role)
- Experience teaching young children
- Experience with Waldorf, Montessori, Forest School, Reggio Emilia, homeschool, or other alternative education approaches is an asset
- Current First Aid & CPR certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Current Vulnerable Sector Check and Child Abuse Registry Check
