POSITION DESCRIPTION
Job Title: Class 1 Delivery Driver
The position is physically demanding and requires the employee to perform regular hand-bomb deliveries of bakery ingredients and supplies. Duties include manually unloading and delivering products such as flour, sugar, mixes, oils, and bakery cartons weighing up to 22.5 kg (50 lbs) on a frequent basis.
Deliveries are made in a variety of environments, including loading docks, commercial kitchens, retail stores, warehouses, back alleys, and through man doors where dock access is unavailable. The successful candidate must be able to safely transport products using hand trucks, pallet jacks, and manual lifting techniques while navigating stairs, ramps, uneven surfaces, narrow passageways, and confined delivery areas.
The role requires repeated lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, bending, twisting, reaching, and walking throughout the workday. Candidates must be capable of working in varying weather conditions and maintaining a high level of physical endurance while providing safe, accurate, and professional customer service during each delivery.
The position is based on a straight truck driver's wage, with a premium paid whenever the driver is required to operate a tractor-trailer.

PURPOSE OF THE JOB
To deliver customer orders to the customer’s premises under the direction of the Operations Manager following BakeMark’s guiding principals of Best Practice process improvement and cultural attitude to meet or exceed objectives. This is accomplished by performing the following Principal/Essential Accountabilities:
PRINCIPAL / ESSENTIAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
- DELIVERY DRIVER DUTIES:
- To load and unload product from the truck at the warehouse or customer locations
- To rotate and put away stock at the customer’s premises
- To complete and keep log books in an up to date order, meeting all transportation rules and regulations set forth by Provincial or Federal transportation departments
- To complete daily safety checklists for vehicles
- To turn in all paperwork, cheques, C.O.D.s, and customer returns on a daily basis
- To report any damage or accidents immediately
- Utilize cell phones for business use only
- PERFORMS OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED:
QUALIFICATIONS:
The individual must be able to perform each principal and essential accountability satisfactorily. Delivery driver experience and a proven track record in delivering good organizational results is expected, and a thorough knowledge and ability to read, interpret, and understand other information is desirable. Needs ability to be part of an effective team, and motivate him/herself i.e., managing culture and morale.
Prior experience in bakery ingredients or a food-related business would be beneficial, but not a must. Beverage industry experience may apply. Previous Delivery Driver roles are beneficial. Ability to interact effectively at all organization levels is required. Some computer skills might be required. The ability to truck safely is must. Experience with loading and unloading trucks is required. A well-rounded lifestyle and sense of humour, with an appreciation for diversity can be advantageous. Unquestionable ethical conduct in both business leadership and personnel dealings are an absolute requirement.
Ability to define and resolve problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Trucking experience preferred, but not required; with two to five years of related experience and/or training. Air brake and class 1 licensing are required.
COMMUNICATION SKILLS:
Ability to read invoices is needed. Ability to take inventory accurately and record the data, as required. Must have ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from management.
