Role and Responsibilities:
- Provide security coverage for large scale events hosted on the property.
- Answering questions and aiding people in need.
- Knowledge of the property and nearby amenities.
- Assist facility personnel, patients and visitors as required.
- De-escalating stressful situations such as persons experiencing crisis.
- Knowledge of the client’s policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of relevant criminal codes and by-laws.
- Ensuring the safety and security of the property and its occupants.
- Identifying and reporting Safety Hazards.
- Professionally enforcing rule infractions.
- Responding to critical incidents, emergencies, and alarms.
- Conducting regular patrols of the interior and exterior of the premises.
- Securing restricted areas.
- Use of computers, two-way radios and building automation systems.
- Completion of Incident Reports and memo book entries.
- Contacting Paragon Security, the client, or emergency services depending on the incident.
Minimum Requirements:
- Must be available to work all shifts (morning/evening/overnight) with flexible availability.
- Valid Ontario Security Guard Licence.
- Standard First Aid & CPR Level C.
- Smart Serve Certificate.
- Physically fit to patrol and respond to various emergencies.
- Police Foundations or related law enforcement post-secondary program graduates preferred.
- 1 year of security guard experience in event security, related security experience or security training/formal education.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong computer literacy (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook) and acceptable typing skills.
- Working knowledge of Provincial Offences Act, Criminal Code of Canada, fire prevention, crowd management techniques, crime scene preservation and basic investigative techniques.
Working Conditions:
- Physical Demands: walking, standing for 8 to 12 hours, exposed to all weather conditions and extreme temperatures.
- Required to work if necessary, various rotating shifts and be available for work in a 24x7x365 environment.
- Could be exposed to hazardous situations and conditions when responding to or managing emergencies or incidents.
