$23.50- $28/hr (includes Wage Enhancement)

This is a purpose built, brand new child care facility, serving 30 month-5 year old children. The Little Phoenix Child Care Centre provides trauma informed, innovative, creative and responsive child care to all children in the community and beyond. We are part of the $10 a day Child care network
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- College Diploma or University Degree in Early Childhood Education
- Current ECE/ECEA license to practice or eligibility to practice in BC
- Knowledge of BC Child Care Licensing Regulations
- Current First Aid Certificate for Emergency\ Child and CPR
- Ability to provide a clear criminal record check for vulnerable population
- Documentation of compliance in the immunization program per Ministry of Health guidelines
SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE OR SKILLS AN ASSET
- Knowledge/experience working in a trauma informed practice with children
- Working respectfully with diverse families and able to relate to people from a wide range of backgrounds and experiences
- Able to handle emergencies skillfully and calmly and in compliance with Child Care Regulations
- Physical vitality for participating in active play with children, and for standing, sitting and lifting throughout the busy work day of the Child Care Centre
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE
- Ensure the health and safety and well being of the children is the primary concern
- Provide innovative, age appropriate and play based learning experiences for the children and their varying developmental needs
- Participate actively and collaboratively in all aspects of the Child Care Centre including the daily routines and responsibilities of the program
- Work as a member of the Child Care Centre team to ensure all spaces, equipment and materials are suitable, clean, and well maintained for the safety, enjoyment and well being of the children
- Provide nurturing care and education to all children, while supporting both group and individual needs.
- Embrace the Centre’s philosophy, policies, the BC Early Learning Framework and all provincial regulations for standards of child care
- Collaborates with other Community and Childcare Services, including UVIC Research teams and students
- Commitment to the ECEB Code of Ethics, including confidentiality and privacy of information
- Good organizational skills and positive attitude
- Demonstrate ability to exercise good judgement, critical thinking and creative problem-solving
Pay: $23.50-$28.00 per hour
Ability to commute/relocate:
- Victoria, BC V8T 1C6: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
Licence/Certification:
