Specialist – Energy and Low Carbon
Location: Ajax, ON
Term: Contract position – 24 months
Shift: Mon -Thurs 7:30am – 4:30 pm, Fri 7:30 am-12:30 pm
Pay Rate: $55 per hour (based on experience)
Job Summary:
The successful candidate will play a key role in contributing to our site level and group level decarbonization objectives by analyzing energy usage, identifying reduction opportunities, and supporting the deployment of low carbon initiatives within an aerospace manufacturing setting.
Responsibilities:
- Identify opportunities to reduce carbon emissions and energy consumption within manufacturing and support functions
- Analyze site energy and utilities data (electricity, gas, water, compressed air, etc.) to identify inefficiencies and improvement opportunities
- Support the development and execution of low carbon and energy efficiency initiatives aligned with Safran climate strategy
- Collaborate with manufacturing, facilities, engineering, and supply chain teams to embed low carbon considerations into operational decision making
- Support monitoring, tracking, and reporting of energy and carbon performance metrics
- Contribute to feasibility studies for energy reduction and low carbon projects
- Support knowledge sharing and awareness related to low carbon practices within the site
- Engage with internal stakeholders and, where applicable, external partners or suppliers on low carbon and energy initiatives
- Gather operational performance data to assess equipment operation and identify deficiencies and opportunities for improvement
- Develop dashboards to benchmark and monitor energy consumption and key performance metrics
- Identify, assess, prioritize and recommend energy-saving initiatives, including preparing business cases to support capital expenditures
Qualifications:
- 3 – 6 years of experience
- Post secondary education in engineering, environmental studies, energy management, sustainability, or a related technical discipline
- Experience in a similar role focused on energy management, carbon reduction, or sustainability is preferred
- Experience working in a manufacturing or industrial environment, ideally within aerospace or another regulated industry
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret energy and environmental data
- Working knowledge of energy efficiency, carbon reduction concepts, and sustainability best practices
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross functional teams and influence without direct authority
- Strong communication and presentation skills
- Good understanding on ISO 50001:2018 (Energy Management System)
- Certified energy Manager or working towards it considered as an asset
