A hotel maintenance worker ensures the physical safety, functionality, and aesthetic appeal of a property. Responsibilities include troubleshooting and repairing plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems, performing routine carpentry and painting, and executing preventive maintenance schedules while strictly adhering to safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities
-- Preventive Maintenance: Conduct scheduled inspections on guest rooms, public spaces, and exterior grounds to prevent costly breakdowns
· · General Repairs: Perform trade work, including patching drywall, painting, changing lightbulbs, fixing door locks, and repairing furniture.
· · Mechanical & Utilities: Maintain and service HVAC units, plumbing fixtures (toilets, faucets, showers), and minor electrical systems.
· · Guest Requests: Respond to work orders and in-room maintenance calls promptly to ensure guest comfort and satisfaction.
· · Safety & Compliance: Ensure emergency lighting, smoke detectors, and fire extinguishers are up to code, and maintain detailed maintenance logs.
· · Groundskeeping: Assist with basic exterior upkeep, snow/debris removal, and pool/spa chemical monitoring as needed.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Experience: Typically requires 1-2 years of general building maintenance or relevant trades experience.
- Skills: Strong working knowledge of basic tools, diagnostic equipment, and minor repairs across multiple trades.
- Soft Skills: Excellent problem-solving abilities, physical stamina to stand for long shifts, and solid communication skills to interact with hotel staff and guests.
