Manufacturing Technician - Electronics Assembly
Grin Technologies is a Vancouver-based company that was started by UBC engineers in 2005 to advance electric bike technology. Over the past 20 years we have grown to become a leader in the research, design, manufacture and distribution of parts for the ebike revolution. We now sell ebike parts worldwide through our website and our international network of distributors.
We are a young, energetic operation with an open, friendly and fun work environment. In spite of our size, most of our R&D, manufacturing, warehousing and order fulfillment is done right out of our facility here in Vancouver. In this position, you get to work with a team of people who are passionate about what we do and believe that electric assist can help make the world a better place!
About the Job:
Electrical assembly requires consistency and a focus on detail. The job requires a reliable and consistent person who is detail-oriented and can concentrate on repetitive tasks for long periods of time.
Our Manufacturing Techs are typically early career people looking to hone their skills and get some experience. They will have some basic electronics skills such as soldering and understand circuit boards and electronics. They are good at repetitive detail oriented tasks and like to learn.
The manufacturing group is responsible for the production, testing/quality control and packaging of e-bike parts such as motor controllers, motors, chargers, lights, batteries and many others. You will be able to learn and be trained in all these areas and develop your knowledge as you go. We just need to build more first!
Skills/experience useful for this include:
- Electronic component assembly, especially soldering (this can be in hobbies or school)
- Good hands-on skills – experience in making things whether at work or for hobby (tell us about it!)
- Technical familiarity/passion in bicycles (especially and/or electronics is a great asset also but not a must-have)
Traits we look for:
- An ability to focus on repetitive tasks and a keen eye for detail and accuracy
- Reliable and consistent
- A positive energy and friendly personality (we can teach most things but not this)
- A high degree of job responsibility to get work done
- An eagerness to learn/try new things and a "Maker" mentality
While we are looking for a specific task oriented person, as a small business employee, you will get to enjoy the many opportunities for growth and development. You will not find a better place to learn. We are committed to a gender balanced workplace and encourage women to apply!
