Summary
The Site Manager is responsible for the overall execution of construction projects in the field. This role serves as the primary leader on site, ensuring projects are organized, productive, safe, well-communicated, and consistently meet 0812's standards of quality and professionalism.
While the Site Manager is entrusted with significant autonomy in the field, they are supported by a dedicated Project Manager and a collaborative team environment. Regular team meetings, project consultations, established processes, templates, and proven project management systems provide the structure and support necessary for success.
Key Responsibilities:
Site Ownership
- Take ownership of the day-to-day execution, organization, security, cleanliness, and overall success of assigned job sites.
- Ensure all work is completed to 0812's standards of quality, craftsmanship, and professionalism.
- Act as the primary point of contact on site for trades, suppliers, clients, consultants, and team members.
- Proactively identify and resolve site issues before they impact quality, budget, or schedule.
- Maintain accurate daily site logs and project documentation.
- Track project progress, deficiencies, and outstanding items through to completion.
- Build, maintain, and manage daily and weekly site task lists to ensure work progresses efficiently.
Coordination with Field Staff Manager
- Work directly with the Field Staff Manager to align labour resources with project needs and upcoming site requirements.
- Create and provide clear scope-of-work documentation to support labour planning and crew assignments.
- Complete material take-offs and help ensure labour, materials, equipment, and site conditions are ready for upcoming work.
- Provide real-time updates regarding site readiness, project constraints, schedule impacts, and upcoming work requirements.
- Identify and communicate labour, material, or resource gaps before they affect project progress.
- Support efficient allocation of internal crews across multiple projects as required.
Communication, Planning & Scheduling
- Coordinate site scheduling and project sequencing in collaboration with the Project Manager.
- Lead daily coordination with subcontractors to ensure work is completed in the proper sequence and according to schedule.
- Provide regular project updates to the Project Manager, including site progress, decisions, challenges, and risks.
- Prepare and distribute weekly trade updates to support project planning and coordination.
- Review project details, drawings, and specifications to resolve site questions and maintain construction momentum.
- Anticipate upcoming requirements and proactively plan for labour, materials, equipment, and trade coordination needs.
- Foster professional, respectful, and solutions-focused communication with clients, trades, consultants, and team members.
Key Attributes of a Successful Candidate
- Journeyman Carpenter or equivalent experience.
- Strong construction background with custom residential new builds, major renovations, and complex construction projects.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and make sound decisions with minimal supervision.
- Takes ownership and accountability for project outcomes.
- Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail and follow-through.
- Strong understanding of residential construction processes, sequencing, and best practices.
- Solid working knowledge of multiple construction trades.
- Excellent planning, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to build productive working relationships with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal team members.
- Proactive, self-motivated, and capable of anticipating issues before they arise.
- Committed to maintaining high standards of quality, professionalism, and job site presentation.
Salary/Compensation: $65,000 - $71,500 based on full time work:
- Company Vehicle with mileage tracking
- Health Benefits will be presented to you for you to opt in or out after 3 month probation period (0812 contributes 50%)
- 3 weeks paid vacation inclusive of a one week shut down at Winter Break
- 5 personal/Sick days per year
- 3 Bereavement Days per year
- Reimbursement of personal phone ($40/month)
