IPE Canada is growing, and we are seeking to hire an experienced full-time Senior Field Service Electrician to help drive service success, improve customer satisfaction.
Position Overview:
The Senior Field Service Electrician will Provide field service support and consultation such as:
- Acceptance testing, maintenance, commissioning, and troubleshooting of low, medium, and high voltage systems as well as emergency distribution systems.
- Advise customers and provide best technical solution to solve the customer issue;
- If necessary, lead team of technicians to complete assigned jobs
- Conduct required tests and calibration using test equipment; check and maintain equipment to ensure compliance with applicable standards.
- Continuously improve personal, technical, and professional business skills
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with customers, authorized service shops, other service organizations, and product business units to assure customer satisfaction.
- Demonstrates an awareness of customer needs, preferences, and time.
- Demonstrate safety consciousness in equipment handling, electrical procedures, and the unique situations encountered at diverse work sites.
Desired Skills and Experience
- Power distribution field experience in servicing, maintaining, and testing electrical power distribution equipment.
- Working knowledge of troubleshooting, tests and repair techniques.
- Demonstrated ability in verbal and written communication skills. Particular skill in communicating technical information to non-technical personnel, educating customers, and presenting information to internal and external customers.
- Working knowledge of billing and invoicing policies for service.
- Knowledge and practice of safety precautions related to working with electrical equipment.
- Has demonstrated ability to provide service and represent company interests in developing customer relationships to assure long-term customer satisfaction.
- Ability to assist junior technicians with electrical skills development
- Skilled proficiency in the following:
- Advanced Test Equipment Operation
- Advanced Troubleshooting Techniques
- Ability to run small outages and projects
Responsibilities
- Provide service and customer support during scheduled services or emergency dispatches.
- Provide on-site installation, commissioning, repair, maintenance and testing.
- Read and interpret electrical line diagrams and blueprints.
- Diagnose failures or technical problems and determine proper solutions both on site and remotely.
- Maintain an “on call” status when required.
- Provide customers basic applications information via phone or on-site consultation and be available for 24-hour x 7 days a week on call duty and respond to emergency situations with minimal notification.
- Produce timely and detailed service reports.
- Operate vehicle in a safe manner.
- Follow all company procedures, protocols and policies.
- Cooperate with technical team and share information across the organization.
- Comprehend customer requirements and make appropriate recommendations.
- Build positive relationships with customers.
- Additional duties as assigned.
Requirements
- English literacy.
- Must have a 309A electrician construction and maintenance license
- Post secondary diploma in electrical engineering technician/technologist is an asset.
- Must have a valid driver license.
- Must have a valid passport.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook.
- Availability to work flexible shifts and adapt to changing work schedules.
- Strong customer service orientation and interpersonal skills.
- Having a C.Tech, C.E.T designation and/or a thermographer certificate is an asset
- Participate in and pass drug testing and background checks as required to meet customer needs.
Physical demand
- Must be able to carry 50 lbs.
- Carry/use required tools, equipment and laptop.

Pay: $40.00-$50.00 per hour
