Position Overview
Reporting to the Shop Manager, the Shunt Driver (AZ Licensed) is responsible for supporting yard operations through the safe and efficient movement of trailers, as well as assisting with general labour tasks in the shop.
This is a hybrid role where approximately 3 hours per shift will be dedicated to shunting duties, with the remainder of the shift spent performing general labour tasks to support production.
The successful candidate must hold a valid AZ License, be comfortable operating manual transmission vehicles, and have the ability to operate a boom truck. This role requires a strong commitment to safety, teamwork, and productivity in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Safely and efficiently support yard and plant operations by moving and positioning trailers, staging loads for shipping and receiving, and maintaining organized yard flow.
- Perform daily inspections of shunt equipment and operate manual transmission vehicles in a safe manner.
- Assist with general labour duties in the shop, including loading and unloading materials, supporting production teams, and maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
- Operate a boom truck to support material handling and delivery needs within the facility.
- Communicate effectively with Logistics, Dispatch, and Plant teams to meet operational timelines while adhering to all Steelcon safety policies and applicable regulations.
Qualifications
- Valid AZ Driver’s License (required)
- Experience operating a boom truck (required)
- Ability to drive manual transmission (required)
- Previous general labour or manufacturing experience
- Strong work ethic and willingness to perform physically demanding tasks
