About the Opportunity
Our client who is a growing, privately held organization is seeking an experienced credit professional whose comfortable owning decisions within their own lending authority and just as comfortable building the case for deals that need sign-off from above. You'll be a key voice in how risk gets evaluated and managed across the portfolio, with real opportunity to influence process and outcomes, not just execute on them
Duties include but are not limited to:
Playing a central role in deal origination - digging into borrower character, financial health, and overall creditworthiness as part of the underwriting process
Advising origination and sales teams on deal structure, terms, security, and covenants
Running the numbers: financial and statistical analysis to size up client risk and back up your recommendations with solid reasoning
Reading financial statements and tax returns fluently - spotting trends, working through ratios, and translating cash flow data into clear credit insights
Drawing on both commercial and consumer credit bureau data to round out your risk picture
Keeping deals aligned with internal credit policy at every step
Working directly with senior leaders, bringing them well-supported recommendations
Spotting friction in existing processes and pitching better ways of doing things
Leading vendor reviews
Digging into delinquency cases - figuring out what went wrong and what fixes the situation
Staying sharp on industry and market shifts that could affect risk exposure
Jumping in on ad hoc projects as they come up
About You
The successful candidate will have the following:
3+ years in business credit underwriting and risk management within financial services, plus a post-secondary background in business or finance
Solid grasp of how commercial business structures work, and what financing options make sense in different scenarios
Comfort with financial statement analysis, cash flow modeling, lending security documentation, and workout/collection strategies
Strong credit writing, you can make a clear, persuasive case on paper
A knack for spotting risks others might miss, and the judgment to know which ones actually matter
Solid communicator, both written and verbal
Good instincts, a team-first mindset, and the ability to stay organized and deliver under deadline pressure in a fast-moving environment
About the Job
The salary band for this opportunity is $70,000 to $75,000 depending on relevant previous experience. This role offers hybrid work flexibility and is located in the North York, ON region.
