Purpose and Scope of Job:
Primarily responsible for directly tracking and analyzing new and ongoing orders, implementing production changes as required, balancing inventory levels, and meeting GB production objectives.
Essential Functions (other duties may be assigned):
· Evaluate planning parameters and safety stocks to drive efficiencies in material procurement and ensure a high service level.
· Plan and schedule GB work flow in the shop based on workload and parts availability.
· Drive daily production efficiencies by releasing the manufacturing orders related to specific product lines and assigned project work based on material and capacity availability.
· Conducts inventory control activities, including day to day inventory management, review of excess, obsolete and slow moving inventory.
· Expedite flow of materials, parts, and assemblies within or between departments in accordance with production and shipping schedules.
· Support and promote lean manufacturing initiatives.
· Communicate changes in delivery schedule to customer service and sales.
· Procure goods as required from Sumitomo factories and local vendors.
Minimum Qualifications:
· College Diploma in Mathematics, Operations Management, or a related discipline
· Five (5) years of production planning/inventory control experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
· Strong working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles and/or Six Sigma concepts.
· Experience working as a cross-functional team member in supporting production, cost savings initiatives, and other supply chain related activities; and experience in resolving inventory discrepancies.
· Excellent problem solving, communication, team-building and interpersonal skills.
Work Conditions & Physical Environment:
Must have the ability to sit for extended periods of time; exhibit manual dexterity to dial a telephone, to enter data into a computer terminal/typewriter; to see and read a computer screen and printed material with or without vision aids; hear and understand speech at normal levels and on the telephone; speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly in person and on the telephone; ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions; physical agility to lift up to 20 pounds. Some duties may be performed in an industrial environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to moving mechanical parts and may be exposed to toxic chemicals.
