The Opportunity
As a valued member of our Engineering team, the Project Lead provides onsite supervision for substation capital projects including substation refurbishment and modernization projects and projects to address load growth initiatives, as well as responding to in-service equipment failures.
Key responsibilities include:
- Provide onsite supervision for substation capital projects.
- Direct construction activities of a multi-discipline work force.
- Provide contract administration as the owner¿s representative.
- Ensure risk management and job planning for the construction activities is completed.
- Ensure work is completed in accordance with the design and quality assurance requirements.
- Ensure construction activities progress in a timely manner to meet project schedule.
- Ensure the work is completed in accordance with all Occupation Health and Safety regulations and internal operating procedures and codes related to both safety and environment.
- Create and approve switching orders.
- Perform switching tasks in substations.
- Complete project closeout documents.
- Extensive travel required, including rotational assignments for on-site construction supervision.
Your qualifications include:
- Diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology, certified as a Journeyperson Industrial or Construction Electrician or Powerline Technician Journeyperson.
- 5+ years¿ experience in an electrical utility environment with exposure to engineering, construction, commissioning, operation and maintenance of substations.
- Previous leadership experience is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of health, safety and environmental requirements.
- Strong project management skills.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills and inter-personal skills.
- Ability to manage third party relationships.
- Strong technical and analytical skills.
- Solid critical thinking skills and problem solving abilities.
- Ability to work in a team environment as well as on own initiative.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
- Valid motor vehicle driver¿s license.
