We are currently looking for a “Mobile Community Health Nurse”.
This position is designed to increase awareness of current STBBI, mental health, and addictions issues experienced by Indigenous people and to ensure individuals can access STBBI Testing and Treatment. Candidates must demonstrate excellent communication skills including public speaking at workshops virtually and in-person.
The Candidate will be responsible for:
· One-to-one engagements with priority populations including:
Prevention Education, Resource Distribution, STBBI Testing (Including HIV and Syphilis) and Treatment, Cultural Supports, Making Medical Appointments, Service Navigation, Travel Arrangements, and Ongoing Care and Support
· Teaching at Sexual Heath Education Events
· Engaging in discussion with various Indigenous Populations
· Reporting to the Project Manager with appropriate documentation and data collection needs
· Working in congruence the Community Health Representatives, Project Manager, Administrative Coordinator, Elders and Executive Director
· Development and provision of culturally supported public health training for Community Health Representatives and related community health care workers
· Assist with event planning, including conferences
Qualifications:
· Understanding of Indigenous cultural connections, land-based teachings and experience working with People with lived experience, Indigenous Elders and Knowledge Keepers
· Extensive knowledge of issues affecting Indigenous Peoples in Canada and local services available to meet needs related to health, income, housing, and addictions for specific populations
· Knowledge of HIV, hepatitis C, and other STBBIs, gender and sexual diversities, sex work, and related issues an asset.
· Ability to listen with care, treat people with respect and dignity, and respond to individual unique needs with a non-judgmental approach.
· High ethical standards and professionalism with a demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and appropriate boundaries related to Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act
· Ability to work independently, as well as a member of a team
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Teams), Zoom, Social Media Platforms, and Databases
· Be able to travel with reliable vehicle, valid Alberta Driver’s License, insurance coverage confirmation
· Ability to speak Cree, Blackfoot and Dene would be an asset
· Lived experience is an asset
· Previous service navigation experience preferred.
Education & Licensing
· Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN or BScN)
· Graduate of an accredited nursing program
· Registered nurse licensed to practice in Alberta
· Criminal record and vulnerable sector check
Pay: From $47.00 per hour
Work Location: Hybrid remote in Alberta
