About the Opportunity
We have an exciting opportunity for Client Support Worker based on Quadra Island, BC.
The Client Support Worker plays a key role in ensuring the smooth operation of the Tsakwa'lutan Healing Centre during periods when counselling and administrative staff are unavailable. This position involves monitoring patient activities, providing support, and ensuring safety, security, and well-being for all residents in the facility. This position includes a mix of day, overnight, and weekend shifts.
Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Client Support
- Conduct client orientation and assist with intake and discharge procedures.
- Monitor clients’ well-being and assist with goals and activities.
- Provide emotional support to clients and ensure a safe, supportive environment.
Safety and Security
- Ensure facility security by conducting regular checks and monitoring client activities.
- Respond to emergencies and incidents as p er established protocols.
- Administer first aid (if trained) and support medical emergencies when needed.
Communication and Documentation
- Maintain accurate records of client interactions, progress, and incidents.
- Submit daily client data electronically and communicate client status to the clinical team.
- Assist with travel arrangements for clients (e.g., medical appointments).
Facility Maintenance
- Assist in maintaining cleanliness and orderliness of the facility.
- Report maintenance issues or safety hazards promptly.
Cultural Competency
- Respect and promote Indigenous cultural practices and traditions.
- Encourage client participation in traditional healing ceremonies.
Team Collaboration
- Work effectively with clinical professionals and contribute to care planning.
- Support team members in daily operations.
About You
- Grade 12 or equivalent diploma.
- Training in addictions, mental health, or related fields.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Basic knowledge of addiction and mental health issues.
- Valid First Aid/CPR Level C certification.
- Clear criminal record check (including vulnerable sector).
- Class 5 Driver’s License (Class 4 preferred or willingness to obtain).
- Ability to work under pressure and in crisis situations.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
- Cultural humility and respect for Indigenous traditions.
