Field Manager
Our Field Managers are responsible for Screening Officer resource oversight and management at Vancouver International Airport, with a focus on maintaining optimal efficiency and service levels in screening operations. The Field Manager will be based in the Pacific Regional Operations Centre (PROC) when not actively performing field duties and will also assume key responsibilities related to scheduling, resource coordination and break management. Responsibilities

Deploy Screening Personnel between checkpoints to meet Wait-Time Service Levels (WTSL) and Throughput targets

Observe, monitor, and manage screening operational efficiency at Pre-Board Screening (PBS), Hold Baggage Screening (HBS), Non-Passenger Screening Terminal (NPST), and Non-Passenger Screening Vehicles (NPSV) checkpoints to ensure procedural compliance to SLA requirements

Manage real-time operational adjustments as approved

Work with Operations Managers to ensure effective deployment of Screening Officers, ensuring optimal staffing levels and break management

Facilitate the movement of Screening Officers between checkpoints

Facilitate communication regarding breaks, redeployment, and pending training activities

Provide timely updates to the operations team regarding passenger volumes, Screening personnel headcount levels and airline flight schedule / check-in counter status

Communicate potential influx or decrease in passenger volumes for effective preparation

Assume key responsibilities in PROC, including strategic oversight and resource allocation

Facilitate shuttles between NPS-V checkpoints

Assess passenger data and review staffing needs at each checkpoint to optimize Screening Officer deployment

Compile and distribute reports for various stakeholders

Monitor sick calls and make proactive decisions to maintain staffing levels

Conduct audits related to documentation and logistics at the checkpoints, including Occupational Health & Safety Manuals and equipment audits

Deploy uniforms, equipment, and consumables materials to different checkpoints throughout the airport

Actively manage from the field where required

Effective and proactive communication with the CATSA MSD to alert for any anticipated operational deficiencies or challenges

Write detailed reports to outline circumstances around operational challenges or SLFs
Requirements

Minimum of 3-5 years managerial experience

Previous experience in a similar role of resource deployment?

Previous experience in aviation security or a related field

A related diploma or Bachelor's degree would be considered an asset

Strong organizational and communication skills

Ability to analyze data and make strategic decisions in real-time

Familiarity with aviation industry regulations and standards

Leadership and team management skills

Experience working in a unionized environment would be considered an asset

Valid Class 5 BC Driver's License

Ability to successfully complete Occupational First Aid Level 1

Ability to acquire Transportation Security Clearance (TSC)

Ability to successfully complete Airside Vehicle Operator's Permit (AVOP) Training and obtain D/A certification

Ability to successfully complete Aeronautical Radio Operator's Certificate (A-ROC)
Salary: $75,000
Internal candidates are encouraged to apply once they have completed 12 months in their current position.
Work Hours: These are 24/7 positions, so candidates are required to have open availability to work morning, afternoon, and overnight shifts. This position will be working full-time at Vancouver International Airport (YVR)
