Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Fabricator to join our manufacturing team. The ideal candidate for welding and fabricating metal assemblies and weldments for manufacturing and construction purposes while maintaining and adhering to a safe work environment. The fabricator makes use of machine tools, welding equipment and hand tools to fabricate products. They use specifications, verbal instructions, and technical drawings to execute their welding duties. Ability to use MIG, TIG and or stick welders. Knowledge of working with powered fabrication, equipment and hand tools. Ability to use various metal cutting equipment, plasma, acetylene, carbon arc. Ability to read blue prints, sketches and shop drawings.
Duties
- Fabricate new Metal designs and modify existing fixtures.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to determine fabrication requirements.
- Operate machinery such as plasma cutters, press brake machines, and welding equipment (MIG and TIG) to cut, shape, and assemble metal parts.
- Drill and tap metal as well as complete bending detail.
- Use hand tools, power tools, calipers, and other measuring instruments to ensure accurate fabrication.
- Operate common testing equipment.
- Know and understand specification criteria prior to performing welding and fabrication including MIG and TIG welding to join metal components securely.
- Execute machining operations for precise fitting of parts, utilizing schematics and technical specifications.
- Follow safety protocols during all fabrication activities, including the use of personal protective equipment.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area to promote safety and efficiency.
- Ensure the cleanliness and order at the weld/Fabrication cell per 5S standards.
- Maintain close communication with Engineers, Maintenance Weld Technician.
- Attend departmental meetings to explain, clarify, or amplify on Fabrication projects.
- Work with in house machinist to accomplish tool and die adjustments to tooling.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose equipment failures.
- Perform any other duties as assigned by department management.
Requirements
- Post secondary education in a related field.
- Valid certification or training in rigging, machining, robotics or related skills is advantageous but not mandatory.
- Proven experience (2-4 years) with welding techniques such as MIG, TIG, and gas.
- 2 – 4 years of experience working in a Tier I or Tier II automotive manufacturing environment preferred.
- Must be mechanically inclined, and detail oriented
- Mechanical knowledge related to fabrication processes, machinery operation, and blueprint reading.
- Ability to operate equipment including plasma cutters, press brake machines, testing equipment, cranes, and hand/power tools.
- Familiarity with schematics, technical drawings, and basic math for measurements and calculations.
- High degree of resourcefulness, flexibility, and adaptability.
- Strong understanding of safety procedures related to fabrication environments.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced setting.
- Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing while working cross-functionally with management and quality.
- Observes performance of robotic welders (Motorman & Panasonic), Robotic Cells, and Manually operated equipment to ensure it meets quality expectations of our customers preferred.
- Apply knowledge of welding, robotics, PLC controls, and pneumatic, hydraulic and electrical system principles preferred.

Pay: $28.00-$32.00 per hour
