Job Summary
We are seeking a friendly and organized Retail Associate/Cashier to join our team. Bilingual abilities in English and French are highly valued, along with experience in retail sales, cashiering, and merchandising. The Retail Associate/Cashier will play a key role in maintaining store organization and ensuring customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities
- Greet customers warmly and assist them with their shopping needs
- Operate POS systems accurately for cash handling and credit transactions
- Upsell products and promote store promotions to enhance sales opportunities
- Maintain organized merchandise displays and assist with merchandising efforts
- Handle customer inquiries professionally and resolve issues promptly
- Manage inventory by filing, stock replenishment, and organizing stockroom areas
- Ensure cleanliness and organization of the checkout area and store environment
- Perform basic math calculations for transactions and pricing accuracy
- Assist with light administrative tasks such as filing and data entry using Microsoft Office tools like Excel and Word
- Support team members with leadership duties when needed, including training new staff
- Demonstrate excellent time management skills to ensure efficient checkout processes during peak hours
Qualifications
- Proven experience in retail sales, cashiering, or customer service roles preferred
- Strong communication skills in English; bilingual proficiency in French is a plus
- Familiarity with POS systems, computer operation, Microsoft Office (Excel, Word), and basic math skills
- Ability to handle heavy lifting when necessary (stock movement or merchandise handling)
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail in merchandising and filing tasks
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment with leadership qualities when required
- Multilingual capabilities are advantageous for serving diverse customer bases
- Previous experience in hospitality or retail environments is beneficial but not mandatory
- Demonstrated ability to manage time efficiently in a busy setting
