Job Title: General Manager
Job Classification: Full-Time Permanent, In person
Compensation: $55,000-60,000 CAD per year + Tips + Bonus
Reports To: Operations Manager
Job Summary:
The General Manager is responsible for overseeing the restaurant’s overall daily operations. Key responsibilities include ensuring exceptional guest satisfaction, maximizing profitability, maintaining high standards of cleanliness throughout the restaurant and kitchen, and ensuring all Smitty’s policies and procedures are consistently followed.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Operations
· Product quality, customer service, and restaurant cleanliness are monitored to ensure Smitty’s Standards are maintained.
· Implement and execute store action plans to improve restaurant operations.
· Use ONLY Smitty’s approved products in all foods, train and coach staff to follow Smitty’s standards.
· Use customer comments and feedback to target operational improvements
· Ensure Food Safety is practiced by all staff, as well as approved cleaning programs.
Training & Leadership
· Lead all staff and management training initiatives, including onboarding, development, and performance management.
· Train and mentor management teams on leadership, operational procedures, and company standards.
· Conduct regular staff meetings, coaching sessions, and performance evaluations to support team growth and retention.
· Promote cross-training and succession planning to strengthen overall team performance and operational flexibility.
Sales & Guest Experience
· Drive guest satisfaction and operational excellence to increase customer loyalty and repeat business.
· Develop and execute sales-building strategies, promotions, and local marketing initiatives.
· Oversee the successful implementation of new menu items, programs, and promotional campaigns.
· Analyze sales performance and operational trends to identify opportunities for revenue growth.
Systems & Administration
· Ensure all daily, weekly, and monthly operational and administrative tasks are completed accurately and on time.
· Oversee scheduling, inventory management, cash handling, reporting, and restaurant documentation.
· Conduct regular restaurant inspections and walkthroughs to maintain quality, safety, and maintenance standards.
· Ensure the restaurant environment is organized, fully operational, and maintained to company expectations.
Profit & Cost Control
· Manage labor, food, and beverage costs to meet financial targets and maximize profitability.
· Oversee inventory ordering, supplier relationships, and invoice verification to control waste and expenses.
· Prepare and manage budgets, forecasts, and labor schedules in alignment with business goals.
· Monitor financial performance and implement strategies to improve operational efficiency and profitability.
Human Resources
· Lead, coach, and motivate team members to deliver excellent guest service.
· Hiring, onboarding, training, and prepare and manage staff schedules to ensure efficient restaurant operations.
· Conduct performance reviews and provide ongoing coaching and feedback.
· Ensure company policies, food safety, and service standards are consistently followed.
· Delegate daily tasks and oversee smooth restaurant operations.
· Foster a positive, professional, and team-oriented work environment.
· Lead by example by supporting staff and coaching on the floor during service shifts.
Other Areas of Responsibility
· Assist with food and liquor inventory control to meet budget and cost targets.
· Process payroll and manage daily cash handling and reporting.
· Oversee ATM, VLTs, and daily cash flow procedures.
All staff may be required to perform duties outside of their normal responsibilities from time to time.
Qualifications
· Valid MB Food Handler and Smart Choice certification, or willingness to obtain.
· 3+years of experience in the restaurant/hospitality industry, preferably in leadership positions.
· Excellent customer service and teamwork skills.
· Ability to work on your feet for extended periods of time, organized with the ability to multitask & problem solving.
· Must be able to work long hours, holidays, weekends and evenings.
Pay: $55,000.00-$60,000.00 per year
