Welder Apprentice / Journeyman Fabricator
We are seeking a 2nd or 3rd Year Welder Apprentice or Journeyman Welder with a strong fabrication background to join our team at our Leduc location. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys custom fabrication, fitting, and building from drawings, rather than repetitive production work.
Working alongside experienced Journeyman Welders, you will be involved in the fabrication, assembly, and modification of custom equipment, including truck and trailer setups, stainless and aluminum components, and one‑off specialty projects. This is a full-time position offering competitive wages and a comprehensive benefits package.
Key Responsibilities:
- Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and specifications to fabricate custom components and assemblies
- Layout, measure, and mark material for cutting, forming, and assembly
- Fit, fabricate, and weld components with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Perform TIG welding, primarily on stainless steel and aluminum
- Fabricate custom equipment, brackets, tanks, and specialty components
- Assist with new truck and trailer builds, retrofits, and equipment repairs
- Inspect finished work to ensure it meets quality standards and specifications
- Track hours and materials used on fabrication projects
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe fabrication workspace
Required Skills & Experience:
- Strong ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings and blueprints
- Extensive fitting and layout experience
- Proven fabrication skills with stainless steel and aluminum
- Proficient with fabrication tools including grinders, drills, saws, and measuring tools
- Experience using calipers and precision measuring instruments
- Ability to assemble and weld complex components accurately
Assets (Nice to Have):
- Experience operating press brake and shear machines
- TIG welding experience
- Previous custom fabrication or equipment-building experience
