Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and results-driven Quality Assurance Inspector to ensure products meet industry standards and design specifications, while improving product quality and reliability. This role supports QA activities within assigned production areas, contributes to continuous improvement initiatives, and assists with cross-training and coaching as needed to maintain quality standards and production schedules.
The ideal candidate is analytical, reliable, and action-oriented, with a strong ability to identify root causes, interpret data, and drive process improvements.
The primary responsibilities and duties include; but are not limited to:
· Perform incoming, in-process, and final inspections of raw materials, components, digital boards, and finished products to ensure compliance with engineering specifications and quality standards.
· Inspect production samples using visual methods, measuring tools, and testing instruments to validate dimensions, functionality, structure, and appearance.
· Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and engineering specifications to understand product requirements and quality expectations.
· Monitor parts and products throughout the production cycle, identifying issues, defects, or deviations and reporting them promptly.
· Conduct inspections throughout the entire production processes to ensure operational efficiency and adherence to quality, safety, and environmental standards.
· Diagnose and analyze root causes of defects and collaborate with the Supervisor and production team to determine appropriate corrective actions, including rework requirements.
· Identify, evaluate, and manage damaged or non-conforming materials during manufacturing processes.
· Issue Non-Conforming Material Notices (NCMN) and communicate with suppliers regarding quality concerns and corrective actions.
· Manage and maintain the quarantine area for non-conforming materials, including tracking and control of rejected items.
· Participate in weekly reviews of non-conforming materials with the Quality Team to determine appropriate disposition and corrective measures.
· Manage supplier sample submissions for each batch of incoming materials, ensuring compliance with specifications.
· Maintain accurate inspection and test reports, quality documentation, and records of testing results and performance metrics (e.g., defect rates, yield data).
· Ensure that appropriate inspection and verification methods are applied based on process requirements, utilizing automated and manual testing systems for complex processes, while adhering to established procedures and work instructions to maintain consistent product quality.
· Assist the Supervisor in monitoring quality performance and implementing quality improvements across production areas.
· Communicate quality concerns, production issues, and risks to the Supervisor and relevant departments (e.g., materials, engineering) to support production schedules.
· Collaborate cross-functionally to support production targets in both quality and quantity, ensuring timely resolution of issues.
· Actively participate in daily production meetings, providing updates on product status, inspection results, and work-in-progress activities.
· Contribute to streamlining operations and improving processes for both existing and new product lines.
· Initiate and recommend improvements to QA procedures and production processes to enhance efficiency and product quality.
· Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and company policies, maintaining a safe and organized work environment.
· Promote positive working relationships with manufacturing staff and team members to support effective collaboration and communication.
Requirements / Qualifications:
Academic Training:
· College Diploma in a related manufacturing field, preferably in electrical, electronic, or electromechanical engineering, or a related discipline.
· Certification from ASME (American Society of Mechanical Engineers) or equivalent is considered an asset.
· Training or experience working within quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9000, ISO/TS 16949).
· Six Sigma, Certified Quality Auditor (CQA), or Certified Quality Improvement Associate (CQIA) certification is an asset.
Work Experience:
· Minimum 2–5 years of experience in quality assurance, quality control, process engineering, or within a manufacturing/industrial environment.
· Proven experience working as a Quality Inspector or in a similar role within manufacturing.
· Familiarity with ASTM standards (American Society for Testing and Materials).
· Hands-on experience and knowledge of metal assembly processes.
· Experience working with conversion units (decimal and millimeter equivalents and degrees to inches).
· Experience working in environments involving continuous quality improvement and production processes.
Specific Competencies:
· Strong knowledge of PCB assemblies (printed circuit boards).
· Hands-on experience with soldering, schematics, hardware assembly, and troubleshooting.
· Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, schematics, and CAD drawings.
· Strong understanding of quality control standards and testing methodologies.
· Familiarity with quality testing equipment, tools, and systems.
· Proficiency in quality data collection and analysis tools (e.g., Pareto charts, Pie charts, Yield charts).
· Strong analytical, problem-solving, and detail-oriented skills, with a methodical approach to quality inspection and evaluation.
· Demonstrated ability in decision-making, leadership, and motivating teams within a quality-driven environment.
· Excellent communication, interpersonal, and team-building skills.
· Strong organizational and multitasking abilities, with the capacity to manage priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing setting.
· Ability to work effectively in a high-volume, fast-paced production environment.
· Highly motivated with a “can-do” attitude and experience in industries such as automotive and/or trailer manufacturing considered an asset.
· Working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
