Atlantic Road Construction & Paving is a large heavy civil construction company specializing in heavy civil excavation and flatworks, pipeline placement, concrete placement, and asphalt paving. Our team has a project ongoing in Lunenburg, NS and is expected to run through all of 2026. We are looking to hire qualified individuals that live within a reasonable commute to our jobsite to join our team for the duration of the project.
Requirements:
- 3+ years of experience operating articulated rock trucks or heavy haul equipment.
- Solid understanding of construction, maintenance techniques & how to safely use equipment.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to perform routine equipment maintenance.
- Valid Class 5 driver's license and reliable transportation to and from the worksite.
- Effective time management skills with the ability to manage many tasks.
- Possess a positive attitude and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Heavy Equipment Operator trade certification considered an asset.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Check equipment before operating to ensure that mechanical, safety and emergency components are in good working order.
- Operate articulated rock trucks to safely transport soil, gravel, rock, and other materials throughout the project site.
- Load, haul, and dump materials in designated locations while maintaining production targets.
- Clean, lubricate, and perform other maintenance work as required.
- Conduct daily equipment inspections and report any mechanical issues or deficiencies.
- Follow haul routes, traffic patterns, and site-specific safety procedures.
- Keep detailed and accurate reports and documentation.
- Communicate any unsafe conditions or accidents/injuries immediately to the supervisor.
- Adhere to workplace safety policies, regulations, and compliance requirements.
- Other duties as required.
