St. Albert Public Schools is currently seeking applications for a Full-Time, Probationary, Division Transportation Operator. This position is overseen by the Transportation department to deliver the division's transportation needs; however, this position will have primary responsibilities in one school location. This position is Exempt from the union.
The Division Transportation Operator will be responsible for safely transporting St. Albert Public students to and from their respective school for curricular or non-curricular trips in a division bus.
Hours of Work: 35.0 hrs. /week; Monday-Friday; Full-Time, Probationary
Start Date: August 26, 2026
Salary: $40,000/10 months
This assignment will be a 10-month position observing the school breaks (summer, winter, and spring). Due to the fluctuating nature of the operational needs of the role, the hours of work per day are not standard; the expectation is the candidate balance to 35 hours/week. There is a significant amount of evenings and weekends may be required. Any overtime will be subject to the provisions in Alberta Employment Standards.
Expected Duties of the Position:

Safely transport students to and from school and related activities, adhering to all Provincial and Federal regulations, traffic laws, division policies and procedures.

Ensure students board, ride, and exit the bus safely.

Manage emergency situations (accidents, breakdowns, severe weather).

Maintain order and appropriate behavior on the bus.

Address bullying, unsafe actions, or disruptions.

Create a safe, welcoming, inclusive, and respectful environment for students.

Ensure the bus is clean inside and out and that the emergency equipment is fully equipped.

Manage all the school field trip bookings.

Perform daily pre and post-trip maintenance inspection tasks, including the completion of all related documentation

Fuel the bus as required. Maintains buses with oil and other fluids, as needed.

Report all mechanical defects or repairs to the Principal.

Maintain student confidentiality at all times.

Inform the school principal of student behaviours that are a threat to the safe operation of the bus and/or the other bus occupants. Report and document inappropriate student behaviour.

Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications and Experience:

Valid Class 2 Driver's License, with “S” Endorsement

Current Emergency First Aid certification

Knowledge of Provincial and Federal Commercial Vehicle regulations
