Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Field Technician to support our environmental and geographic data collection projects. The ideal candidate will be responsible for conducting fieldwork, collecting and analyzing data, and supporting research initiatives across various sites. Duties
- Conduct on-site data collection related to environmental, geographic, or horticultural projects using specialized equipment and tools
- Operate GIS software such as ArcGIS and AutoCAD to map and analyze spatial data
- Support research activities by gathering field data, recording observations, and maintaining accurate records
- Perform basic mechanical tasks related to field equipment maintenance and troubleshooting
- Utilize Python scripting for data processing and automation tasks where applicable
- Assist in the development of reports and visualizations based on collected data for project presentations
- Collaborate with team members to ensure data integrity and adherence to project timelines
- Support laboratory or research activities as needed, including sample handling or preparation
Skills
- Laboratory experience is a plus for understanding scientific procedures and sample handling
- Proficiency with ArcGIS, GIS software, and AutoCAD for spatial data analysis and mapping
- Strong data analysis skills with the ability to interpret complex datasets effectively
- Experience in data collection methods within environmental or horticultural contexts
- Research experience demonstrating ability to support scientific investigations
- Mechanical knowledge beneficial for maintaining field equipment
- Programming skills in Python for data automation and analysis tasks
- Knowledge of horticulture principles is advantageous for projects related to plant sciences
- Excellent problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and strong communication skills
