Overview
We are seeking a motivated Intermediate Estimator, with minimum 3 years experience, to join our structural steel fabrication team. This role is ideal for a candidate looking to build a long-term career in steel estimating within the Canadian construction industry. You will support the preparation of accurate material take-offs, pricing, and bid submissions in accordance with CISC industry practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in preparing cost estimates for structural steel fabrication and erection projects
- Perform quantity take-offs for structural steel members, connections, plates, and miscellaneous steel
- Interpret structural and architectural drawings, specifications, and addenda
- Support bid preparation, estimate summaries, and pricing breakdowns
- Input material and labour data into spreadsheets and estimating systems
- Assist with revisions, alternates, and budget pricing
- Coordinate with detailing, fabrication, engineering, and project management teams
- Maintain organized records of bids and estimating documents
Qualifications & Technical Skills
- Ability to read and interpret structural and architectural drawings
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word
- Basic understanding of structural steel systems, including beams, columns, bracing, and connections
- Familiarity with CISC Handbook of Steel Construction and/or CSA S16 is an asset
- Experience or familiarity with STRUMIS is a strong plus
- Comfortable working with metric and imperial units and Canadian construction standards
- Strong attention to detail and numerical accuracy

Education & Experience
- Diploma or degree in Civil/Structural Engineering, Construction Management, Estimating, or a related field preferred
- Minimum 3 years experience
