Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced estimator to establish and lead the development of said function within our organization. With a focus on Data Centers, we are seeking a MEP estimator comfortable with CSA estimating responsibilities. The role will require both advising firm leadership on functional development and regular estimating duties. These duties include full project scope material take-offs with the support of our existing BIM team; Developing and maintaining full project scope Class-5 and Class-4 parametric estimating models for Data Center projects; Production of full project scope Class-5 thru Class-1 project estimates as required, where Classes-4, 3, and 1 are expected typically. Assessing and advising on project budget cost contingencies.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare estimates of costs of materials, labour and equipment for construction projects based on contract bids, quotations, design documents and specifications
- Liaise, consult and communicate with engineers, architects, owners, contractors and subcontractors, and prepare economic feasibility studies on changes and adjustments to cost estimates
- Work in collaboration with suppliers and subcontractors to acquire detailed costs for all trades and disciplines
- Establish and calculate material, labor, equipment, supplier and subcontractor costs
- Prepare detailed cost estimates and bid proposals
- Request and evaluate quotes from suppliers and subcontractors
- Analyze project risks and recommend cost-saving solutions
- Collaborate with the VP of Construction, Project Director, Managers, the Director of Construction, engineers, architects and other professionals as required
- Track cost changes and update estimates as projects evolve
- Maintain databases of historical costs and pricing trends
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (associate or bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or related field preferred)
- Previous experience in construction, estimating, or related roles
Preferred Qualifications
- Member of one or more relevant professional organizations such as AACEI, ASPE, CIQS, or ICEAA
- Strong math and analytical skills
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
- Knowledge of construction methods, materials, and costs
- Proficiency with estimating software and/or spreadsheets
- Attention to details and accuracy

- Full-time position
- Office setting and active construction site environments
- Travel to project sites as required
- Handling multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
- Standard business hours with additional work under tight deadlines during bid submissions
- May require extended hours to meet project deadlines
