Social Media Content Creator & Founder’s Assistant
Location: GTA, Ontario
Type: Full-time | In-person
Salary: C$22–25/hr depending on experience, with potential annual performance bonus
We’re looking for a proactive, social media-savvy assistant to help support a fast-growing home décor e-commerce startup in the GTA.
This is a hands-on in-person role for someone comfortable wearing multiple hats in a fast-moving startup environment. You’ll work closely with the founder while helping manage social media, content creation, creator coordination, communication, and day-to-day business support. From brainstorming content ideas and analyzing Instagram insights to coordinating shoots, managing my inbox, and helping with day-to-day founder support.
This role is best suited for someone highly self-sufficient, adaptable, and comfortable figuring things out independently once direction is given. Tasks, priorities, and projects may change quickly depending on business needs, so we’re looking for someone who can take initiative, stay organized, and confidently handle a variety of responsibilities without constant supervision.
The ideal person is highly familiar with social media culture and trends, confident creating short-form content, comfortable using Canva independently, and confident both behind and in front of the camera.
Responsibilities may include:
- Creating and posting 3-5 pieces of short-form content (TikTok/Reels-style)
- Research trends, viral formats, and content ideas
- Social media posting, managing comments, reviews, and DMs
- Creating and polishing social media content using Canva, CapCut, or similar tools
- Assisting with creator/freelancer hiring, coordination, and local shoots
- Assisting with communication, follow-ups, and admin tasks
- Supporting various startup projects as business needs evolve
Some days may involve content shoots at different GTA locations, helping film videos, or assisting with creative projects. Other days may focus more on social media management, communication, research, or admin support.
Requirements:
- Strong understanding of social media culture, trends, and short-form content
- Proven content creation experience required (please provide examples)
- Strong Canva skills required
- CapCut or short-form video editing experience is a strong plus
- Comfortable appearing in TikTok/Reels-style content
- Native/fluent English speaker
- Able to work independently without constant supervision
- Organized, proactive, adaptable, and reliable
- Comfortable in a fast-moving startup environment where tasks and priorities can change quickly
Nice to Have:
- Experience with product-led, lifestyle, UGC, or e-commerce brands
- A good creative eye for spotting trends and strong content
- Experience coordinating with freelancers, creators, or shoot talent
- Experience with outreach, messaging, or follow-ups
How to Apply:
Standard resumes alone will not be enough. Please include links to your TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, portfolio, or examples of content you’ve created. We want to see your creativity, social media instincts, and on-camera personality.
Specific brand details will be shared with shortlisted candidates.
