Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Purchasing Manager to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in overseeing the procurement process, managing vendor relationships, and ensuring the efficient sourcing of materials and services. This position requires a strategic thinker with a strong background in supply chain management and the ability to negotiate effectively. The Senior Purchasing Manager will work closely with various departments to align purchasing strategies with organizational goals.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement purchasing strategies that align with company objectives.
- Manage the procurement process for materials, supplies, and services necessary for operations.
- Oversee vendor management, including selection, evaluation, and performance monitoring.
- Negotiate contracts and pricing with suppliers to secure favorable terms.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to forecast demand and optimize inventory levels using MRP systems.
- Analyze market trends and supplier performance to identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures related to purchasing activities.
- Maintain accurate records of purchases, pricing, and supplier information within SAP systems.
- Lead sourcing initiatives to identify new suppliers capable of meeting quality standards while reducing costs.
- Provide training and support to junior purchasing staff as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred.
- Proven experience in procurement or supply chain management, ideally in a senior role.
- Strong understanding of vendor management practices and sourcing strategies.
- Proficiency in SAP or similar enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems is required.
- Excellent negotiation skills with a track record of achieving favorable outcomes.
- Ability to analyze data effectively to inform purchasing decisions.
- Knowledge of International shipping/receiving and customs procedures.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Familiarity with manufacturing processes and the ability to collaborate effectively with engineering teams on fabrication needs is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
