Are you an experienced Residential Support Worker ready to take the next step in your career? SMJ Youth Services is seeking a motivated, organized, and compassionate Advanced Residential Support Worker to help oversee the daily operations of one of our licensed residential homes supporting youth with complex special needs, mental health challenges, autism, developmental disabilities, and behavioural needs.
As an Advanced Residential Support Worker, you will work alongside the House Manager to promote consistency, accountability, and excellence in care while mentoring staff and ensuring the home operates efficiently. Key ResponsibilitiesLeadership & Team Support
- Provide day-to-day leadership and support to Residential Support Workers.
- Promote consistency in routines, programming, and behaviour support strategies.
- Mentor staff and model best practices.
- Support the House Manager in maintaining a safe, structured, and therapeutic home environment.
Home Operations
Working closely with the House Manager, you will help ensure:
- Daily operations and household responsibilities are completed.
- Youth attend all scheduled appointments, school, and community activities.
- Appointments and activities are accurately scheduled and communicated.
- Action items from placing agencies and clinical partners are completed.
- Plans of Care are developed, implemented, and regularly reviewed.
Documentation & Quality Assurance
- Ensure staff complete documentation accurately and within required timelines.
- Review documentation for quality, completeness, and compliance.
- Support adherence to Ministry standards, agency policies, and licensing requirements.
- Communicate concerns, successes, and updates with the House Manager.
Youth Support
- Assist with implementing individualized Plans of Care and Behaviour Support Plans.
- Build positive relationships with youth while promoting independence, skill development, and community participation.
- Foster a positive, trauma-informed, youth-centred environment.
Qualifications
- Diploma or degree in Child and Youth Care, Social Work, Psychology, Behavioural Science, Community Justice, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience supporting youth with complex behavioural, developmental, or mental health needs.
- Previous leadership, mentoring, or supervisory experience is considered an asset.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Valid G Class Driver's Licence with a clean driving record.
- Current First Aid & CPR Certification.
- Clear Vulnerable Sector Check.
